The world is made of things

Munich-based artist Claudia Marr works with relics and biographies of people who have had to leave their homes for good. From what is left behind – usually untouched and abandoned for disposal – she develops atmospherically condensed installations.

The artist’s works draw intimate human portraits and invite the viewer to immerse himself or herself in the universe of a person who is otherwise a stranger to him or her. Claudia Marr studied sculpture and visual design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and gained national recognition in 2018 with her exhibition “Epilog” at the Erlöserkirche. There she showed man-high columns cast from small-ground objects from the possessions of deceased or ill people.
